One great Bishop

Braden gave the prayer on the sacrament bread for the first time yesterday.  He had to start over 3 times.  After he messed up the first time, I could tell that he was really nervous.  He was talking really fast and would repeat words.  After the 3 mess ups, there was a long pause, okay it seemed like a long pause to me, the Bishop got up and walked over to the table.  Quietly knelt down by Braden and put his hand on his back.  He quietly talked to Braden.  I could see the tension leave Braden's body and he started the prayer over, the Bishop staying right there with him.  It was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen.
It was really hard for me to sit in the congregation, seeing my son struggle and not being able to do anything.  I'm sure it was hard for Loren too.  But the Bishop saved us and Braden by being the loving person that he is.  We love you Bishop Spencer!

Braden told me after words, that some one had taken the bigger card with the prayer on it and he was using the very small one.  He kept losing his place and had to start over.  When the Bishop came over, he handed Braden a big card and that really helped.

Greg told me about this! He said it is really hard to read off of that teeny card. I am glad it all worked out.

I thought it was very sweet too! He's not the first one to have to repeat the sacrament prayers...seems like it happens all the time. He is a great kid!

That was a special time. We talked about it in our family, too, and are grateful for the leaders that help and watch out for us and especially for our children - which somehow means even more.
